Choir singing is one of the most popular national movements in Sweden but the knowledge of the meaning of this activity for health and well being from the choir singers? own experiences is limited. The purpose of this study was therefore to develop useful knowledge about the meaning of Choir singing for participating persons from a health perspective. The data was collected through qualitative interviews with six different choir singers and went after that through a comprehensive analysis which resulted in four main categories: an oasis in the existence; possibilities of meetings and solidarity; goals and musical development; and physical and emotional well-being. The results showed that the choir activity represents a place where the singers can escape the demands and the stress factors of everyday life and where they get the opportunity of meaningful relations with other people.

In this Bachelor essay I will discuss my thoughts about choir intonation and especially with an amateur choir, Stämbanden, who has little experience when it comes to work with choir intonation. I describe my thoughts as I am working with Stämbanden. I will discuss a few choir intonation exercises that focus on working with intonation while singing that I have put together from other exercises and made adjustable to fit Stämbandens? needs. Title: Care of the voice ? one part of the Choir singing? The choir conductors work with children's and youths' individual voices within the choir. The purpose of this study was to examine how four different choir conductors work with children's and youths' individual voices during choir rehearsal. Further aims of this essay are to shed light upon relevant research within the topic. I used a qualitative method of researching observations with low structure and structured interviews.

In musikklasser (a special musical training which focus on choral singing is offered in the Swedish compulsory school from the age of ten until the age of sixteen) teachers are working in a tradition where conventions relating to singing with children have developed in accordance with the Swedish choral tradition. In these classes, students are trained in large groups, usually around 30 students in one class. Furthermore, one teacher and 60 students is also frequent in schools with two or more parallell grades. In a large choir group, students develop their skill in choral singing, which includes the development of general musical knowledge as well as the development of the individual singing voice of each student in order for the choir to be able to interpret and perform music with a communal musical expression. Thus, the complexity in this teaching and learning setting places high demands on the choir teachers? ability to use appropriate teaching and learning strategies in order to develop the specific musical skill required in a choir.In this study, two choral teachers´ interaction with their choir class were investigated.

This essay discusses sentiments underlying choices to sing in women's choir. The focus is on the female choir La Cappella from Uppsala, which is run at a professional level to constitute one of the premier choirs in the country. The La Cappella members and their conductor participated in a survey with questions about how they view their own role as a singer or conductor in a choir. Syftet med studien är att få ökad insikt i körledares förhållningssätt till och hantering av sångtekniska övningar i kör. Bakgrundskapitlet beskriver sångrösten som instrument, och olika ? i sångsammanhang ? vanligt förekommande begrepp samt ger en presentation av tidigare litteratur och forskning som anknyter till studiens syfte. Vidare presenteras ett sociokulturellt perspektiv i egenskap av teoretisk utgångspunkt.Undersökningen är genomförd med hjälp av den kvalitativa intervjun som metod. Fyra i nuläget aktiva körledare intervjuades och i resultatet beskrivs deras syn på vad röst- och sångteknik innebär och hur de går tillväga för att förmedla detta till sina korister samt vilka redskap som används för ändamålet.

The study deals with three questions concerning attitudes to singing: When does the joy of singing with girls and boys change to a feeling of ?I can not sing?? What is it that affects them? Are there any differences between girls and boys attitudes to singing?A questionnaire with 12 questions about singing was distributed to 5 girls and 5 boys in (Swedish) grade 1, 4 and 8. It turned out that the girls in the study ?play with singing? together or by themselves, while the boys are satisfied singing in school on music lessons. Because of this, the singing interest for boys gets lower and lower between 10 and 14 years.

Jag har gjort en undersökning om hur intresset för skolkörer ser ut på högstadieskolorna i Malmö. Jag valde att göra både en kvantitativ och en kvalitativ undersökning. Den kvantitativa undersökningen bestod utav enkäter och den kvalitativa undersökningen bestod utav intervjuer av två personer. Tyvärr är det mer än hälften av alla högstadieskolor i Malmö som inte har en skolkör även om intresset verkar finnas hos elever, musiklärare samt hos skolledningen. Skolan drabbas ständigt av olika nedskärningar och skolkörer har blivit ett ekonomiskt problem som skolorna oftast väljer att dra in på.Title: Choir activity in the school ? self-evident or not? - An inquiry at the secondary schools in Malmö.

The aim of this study is to investigate how Lunds Vokalensemble achieves its goals and in which way the goals influence the choir's work. The study also explores the choir's artistic process. Qualitative interviews and observations were used as a method. Four singers and the director participated to the interviews. The results show that the choir's artistic goals have quite an influence on many aspects of the choir's work, both in a musical and a social way.

Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka fyra respondenters syn på hur körsång har påverkat deras välbefinnande. För att uppnå syftet har vi valt följande forskningsfrågor: Hur beskriver respondenterna att de mår före, under och efter en körrepetition? och Hur beskrivs körsång påverka respondenterna på kortare, eller längre sikt?  Vi har valt att använda oss av en kvalitativ intervjuform. Ett kriterium för att delta i studien var att respondenterna skulle vara aktiva körsångare på icke-professionell nivå. Fyra kvalitativa intervjuer har legat till grund för undersökningen och den teoretiska utgångspunkten för studien har varit det sociokulturella perspektivet.

Title: Sing in Swedish! The purpose of this study is to find out how songs and singing could complement Swedish second language education. The method I have used to collect information is qualitative interviews with four persons with different professions: a teacher, a choirleader, a singing teacher and a medical doctor and a laryngologist. The study begins with a few thoughts about my interest in the subject, followed by a short overview of other studies and literature that has been published on the subject. The persons I have interviewed has experiences of either singing, use of voice or teaching of the Swedish language. The results of the interviews have been analysed and compared with the literature.

Rock singing - five vocal teachers´ experience of the female voice.The purpose of this study is to find out what different vocal teachers have to say about rock singing and the female singing voice. The method I have used to gather information is a phenomenographically inspired qualitative interview. The study begins with a few thoughts about my interest in rock singing, followed by a short overview about other research and literature that has been published on the subject. I have interviewed five vocal teachers in this study. All of them with many years experience of singing, both singing themselves and teaching professionally.
